One of the most exciting new features introduce in Version 4
was the ability to make a feathered edge while using the manual punch tool. In order to gain a greater understanding of this aspect I made a sampler incorporating different pattern and densities.
In all of the samples on the top two rows I applied the same pattern to both the top and bottom edge. The P signifies which pattern number was selected while the D and corresponding number signify the density applied. The first three examples use the same pattern, but different densities. There are a total of 22 feather edge patterns. The bottom left example uses the same attributes and has three layers of manual punching overlapping. The bottom row center is an example of using the feather stitch on one edge only. Notice the straight edge on the right hand side. The semi circles on the right demonstrate the feather stitch used on the top pattern on one and the bottom on the other. The feather edge may ONLY be used with the manual punch tool!

You may download the sampler files in order to really understand how the feathering sews out. The Version 2 file is to be used if you do not have Pedesign or Palette Version 4. The Version 4 file WILL NOT BE VALID unless you are using Version 4 or a higher version of the software. If you do have Version 4 or 5 you are welcome to pick apart the file and study the different attributes.
